She decided it was time.

And when I say she decided, I mean it. She’s been really intently tracking Drew and I while we eat or drink for the last week or two. And then the other night, she got really fussy as we were having dinner. It was rice and lentils (soft) so I offered her a spoonful. She lurched forward, held the spoon with both hands, and started eating. Just went at it.

Now if we’re eating, she demands to have some, too. I need to go buy some baby spoons (I had intended to wait another month) although even these big spoons don’t seem to slow her down: she pushes the food in with her little fingers.

Her mama’s child. My first word was at the dinner table: “more”. I’m so proud of her. My hungry, hungry hippo.
