It’s been a long time since I shared a dinner. This is one of Drew’s stand by’s: fresh pasta and a simple red sauce. Just garlic, basil, and a large can of tomatoes for the sauce, simmered and tossed with the basic pasta recipe from this book, topped with parmesan and arugula. Drew mixes the dough and lets it rest a half hour or so before he starts cooking, but the actual prep time for this meal is only about 30 minutes. We have it almost weekly.

Juniper ‘assists’ by rifling through the recycling bin at her daddy’s feet. Can I just say, thank God for these new can openers that don’t leave any sharp edges. Seriously.

And it’s funny: things change, but things stay the same. Junip’s back on her hold-me-all-the-time kick, which is a little harder to do now than it was nine months ago.

That’s Drew trying to mix pasta dough one-handed. Can you believe, that much growth in 9 months? I miss being able to just pop her in the k’tan and go about my business!
