That title is kind of ironic, because we’re in the middle of a really weird (and glorious) warm streak, but we went up to Minocqua last weekend with Drew’s parents and the snow was perfect. Big mounds of it, just melty enough to pack. We made, basically, the best snow fort ever; really it was more of a villa, complete with walled patio, decorative spikes, and a textured glass (ice) window. Awesome.
Juniper was ready to serve tasty scoops of snow to all the villa occupants. And then (this kid!) insisted on sledding all by herself! How brave is my little three year old? Papa was waiting at the bottom of the hill to prevent a crash landing, but she just blasted off all by herself, a pink rocket shooting down the hill, making us all so proud.
I’m doing a bit of a double take, looking at these photos and then looking over my shoulder at the open screen doors and windows currently letting a 60 degree breeze float through my house. The lilacs are budding, which could be really sad a few days from now when the weather remembers that it’s only February and this is Wisconsin, but goodness, it feels wonderful at the moment.
Glad we got in some snow fun, but really looking forward to spring.
